The silver designs of English design reformer Charles Ashbee were produced in England by the Guild of Handicraft, a cooperative workshop where objects were made in traditional ways. Such workshops also existed in America, but this did not keep mainstream firms from producing and selling Arts and Crafts wares. This dish, based on one of Ashbee's designs, was made for Shreve Crump & Low, an upscale Boston retailer of china, crystal, silver, and jewelry.
