Vibrant green and red embroidery in a diagonal leaf pattern appears frequently on eighteenth and nineteenth century textiles from the Greek island of Rhodes. The size of this cover and the fact that it is embroidered over its whole surface suggest that it was used as a bolster cover on a bed, and that other cushions were not stacked on top of it.
