Poetry Out Loud 2017

Experience the passion of poetry and the beauty of the spoken word on Thursday evening, February 2, when area high school students compete in the regional finals of the Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Competition at the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley. Admission is free to all.

Presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation in partnership with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Allentown Art Museum, Poetry Out Loud is a program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.

Students from schools in Carbon, Northampton, Lehigh, Monroe, and Southeastern Pike Counties will compete in the Museum’s regional competition. The winner will advance to the state competition on Monday, March 6, 2017, in Harrisburg. State champions will advance to the National Finals, to take place in May 2017 in Washington, D.C.
