Shadow-casting workshop with Anthony Viscardi

Date

Shadow-casting workshop with Anthony Viscardi
July 23 (Saturday)
3-5:30 p.m.

Artist Anthony Viscardi will lead a series of free shadow-casting workshops for teens and adults on the following Saturdays from 3 p.m. till 5:30 p.m.: July 23, July 30, August 6, and August 13. Participants, or “shadowhunters,” will capture, record, draw, and construct shapes cast by the sun. The workshop begins at the Museum (31 North Fifth Street, Allentown) and continues at the Creativity Lab (645 Hamilton Street). Shadows will be collected between these two locations.

The premise for these workshops, and for the artist's upcoming exhibition at the Museum this fall, called Shadow Landings, are his theoretical drawing/visual investigations on “shadow mapping,” for which he was awarded a coveted MacDowell Colony Fellowship in 2012.

The images created by participants will be incorporated into a vinyl graphic that will be displayed either in the Creativity Lab or another venue. Worshops are limited to ten participants each; sign up now by clicking here

Creativity Lab is a partnership between the Art Museum and City Center Lehigh Valley.

Shadow Landings will build on the artist’s prior exploration of the shadow as a mapping of space and time and will allow visitors to become part of the work as their own shadows mingle with those created by the installation.
