FINAL CHANCE TO SEETOULOUSE-LAUTREC EXHIBIT IN ALLENTOWN
Extended hours for popular exhibit, show closes September 1

Allentown, PA—An exhibition of more than 140 works on paper by the French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is entering its final days at the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley, with extended hours on the final two evenings of the exhibit. Toulouse-Lautrec and His World is on loan from the Herakleidon Museum in Athens, Greece, and focuses on the art and life of one of the most fascinating artists and personalities of the late nineteenth century. Lautrec (1864–1901) lived in Paris during this colorful time of cabarets and cafés and captured its most famous singers, actors, and other characters in his highly celebrated posters and prints, including the iconic Mademoiselle Eglantine’s Troupe depicting four women dancing the Can-Can. The exhibit also features one-of-a-kind pencil drawings on sheets taken directly from the artist’s sketchpad.

Toulouse-Lautrec and His World opened on June 2 in the Museum’s Scheller and Rodale galleries and all summer has attracted visitors from as far away as France, Germany, and Australia. The exhibit’s last day on the East Coast will be Sunday, September 1, after which it will travel to the Flint (Michigan) Institute of Arts. The Allentown Art Museum will be the venue closest to Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and D.C. to host the exhibition.
