Museum Day Live! 2016 just in time for final week of summer shows

Free admission in conjunction with 12th annual Smithsonian event

ALLENTOWNThe Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley will again participate in Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Live!, opening its doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket. On Saturday, September 24, museums across the United States, including here in Allentown, emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day.

Museum Day Live! represents the Museum’s and the Smithsonian’s commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone. Last year’s event drew more than 200,000 participants nationwide, and this year’s event is expected to attract more museum-goers than ever before.

“For residents or visitors who have not yet seen our summer exhibitions, Museum Day Live! is timed perfectly, allowing free entry to the Museum on the next-to-last Saturday of the shows,” said manager of marketing and public relations Chris Potash. Our America: The Latino Presence in American Art, an exhibition of works from the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s collection, and Our Strength Is Our People: The Humanist Photographs of Lewis Hine both close on October 2.

The Museum Day Live! ticket is available for download at who present the Museum Day Live! ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues on September 24, 2016. One ticket per household is permitted.
