Community art project will culminate in summer exhibition

Allentown, PA—WOVEN WELCOME is a community-based art project that utilizes weaving as a way to connect individuals and groups through the creative process. The project kicks off on Sunday, February 1,noon till 4 p.m., when looms will be set up inside the Museum and artist Jill Odegaard will help visitors weave bracelets or rug segments that will be part of a larger work to be displayed at the Museum this summer. Participation in WOVEN WELCOME is free.

Between now and June 14, 2015, Odegaard and the Museum together with Via of the Lehigh Valley, a nonprofit human service agency that provides services for children and adults with disabilities, invite community groups and individuals to participate in WOVEN WELCOME. Jill Odegaard is Professor and Chair of the Art Department at Cedar Crest College. She holds a BFA from Minnesota State University–Moorhead and an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Her studio practice explores the tactile nature of design through the use of textiles, handmade paper, and other mixed media. Jill lives in Allentown with her husband and two children.
