The H. R. Mallinson company introduced its "Early American Prints" line of silk dress fabric in 1929. Presenting designs that depicted "early
American life, heroism, and progress," these brightly colored fabrics were sold by the yard, or made into ready-to-wear clothing. This example shows scenes
of pioneers traveling west on the Oregon Trail; Conestoga wagons, Indian attacks, and buffalo hunts had already become stereotypical images of the American
west. |
