Fabrics printed in response to historical events were first made in the eighteenth century when the manufacturers of toiles de Jouy commissioned designers to
commemorate the French and American revolutions, the first balloon flight, and other momentous occurrences. This American roller-printed cotton follows in that tradition.
Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo flight across the Atlantic on May 20, 1927, and this commemorative fabric was produced the same year.
