Eva Lipman often uses dance and dancers as backgrounds or subjects for her photographs. In the 1980s she was an amateur ballroom dancer, and expressed her understanding
of that world through photography. Later, between 1990 and 1993, she photographed high school proms. In these pictures Lipman recorded spontaneous happenings to explore
complex relationships among the students.
