The title of this photograph, Weisenberg School, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, refers to the small building on the left, framed between two trees. In 1988 photographer David Haas began a series of landscape photos of one-room schoolhouses. These buildings served as the uniting factor in the series, but they are not necessarily the subjects of the individual photos. Haas was interested instead in how the schoolhouses, often derelict or being used for other purposes, fit into the landscape.
