The American artist Michelle Stuart has employed many media to create a diverse body of work, from monumental earth works to paintings and sculpture that incorporate
natural materials from the sites that inspired them. The monotype Gingko-Biloba resembles a page from a nineteenth-century herbarium (collection of pressed
and dried botanical samples). It can be seen as a reflection of the artist's interest in nature, natural history, and mankind's impact on the environment.
