Lewis Knauss's interest in landscape began in 1973 as nostalgia for the farm country around Macungie, Pennsylvania, where he was born. He relates the color and texture
of his fiber art to the earth, seasons, and atmosphere. This 1997 piece is from a series called "Meditations on the Landscape." Its alternate title, "After
the Harvest," suggests both the time and the place of his meditation.
