Day With(out) Art on Third Thursday

Due to inclement weather on a Day With(out) Art, we rescheduled our event to Third Thursday.

The Allentown Art Museum is proud to partner with Lehigh Valley Health Network and Visual AIDS to observe the thirtieth annual Day With(out) Art. Join us along with other community partners as we recognize the lives that have been lost to the disease and support individuals that are currently affected. Through the Museum’s participation in this day, we hope to bring continued awareness and understanding to the issues associated with this disease and the cultural and social impact it continues to have.

In conjunction with Lehigh Valley Health Network there will be an exhibit of artwork by patients of HIV/AIDS in our auditorium.

EVENT SCHEDULE

5-7:30PM: Meet Artist Angel Suarez-Rosado
Easton-based artist Angel Suarez-Rosado will be hosting a drop-in workshop for families to create handmade works that express who they are, how they are, and what they believe.

6-7PM: Free Screening of Still Beginning
Still Beginning is a program of seven newly commissioned videos responding to the ongoing HIV/AIDS epidemic presented by Visual AIDS.

7-7:30PM: Understand the Evolution of an Epidemic
Dr. Margaret L. Hoffman-Terry from the Lehigh Valley Health Network gives a history of HIV/AIDS from the 1980s through today. Others will also be on hand to provide information on HIV prevention.

7:45PM: Observe a Moment of Silence
The Allentown Art Museum will recognize one of the world’s most profound artist, Keith Haring, as well as other artists and art community members that have been affected by AIDS. Join others at the Keith Haring sculpture, which will be covered in a shroud in accordance with Day With(out) Art.
