Dancer Firuzi Desai and her students present snippets of Indian stories with music. A Bharatanatyam performance emphasizes nritta (dance) and nritya (narrative or expressive dance using enactment, or abhinaya). This Indian classical dance is distinguished by feet and knees turned out in a plié position and hand gestures, called mudras. For 15 years, Firuzi Desai has been teaching dance and choreographing Bharatanatyam, Fusion, and Bollywood dances at Allentown’s Vedanta Dance Academy.
