Film Storyboard Workshop with Al Johnson

Al Johnson attended Pratt Institute, the Albert Pale School of Commercial Arts, and the Art Students League of New York. His paintings have been exhibited around the world, including a permanently installed commissioned portrait of Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm on display in Brooklyn Borough Hall and his hand-painted ceramic Energy Tiles at the Bedford Stuyvesant YMCA in Brooklyn, New York.

He also continues to create new visions in the feature film, television, and music-video industry. You can view his commercial storyboard work in films such as The Fountain, the Van Heusen commercial aired during the Super Bowl, the HBO Chris Rock special Kill the Messenger, and most recently the feature film The Island Chronicles. In addition to his many accomplishments in the visual arts, AI also develops mentorship programs helping to inspire and motivate people of all ages.

ArtVentures for Families

Kids and families can create original works of art together under the direction of a Museum educator in our Crayola Classroom. Visit our Designing Hollywood exhibition and get inspired by the elaborate film costumes. Head to Art Ways or the Crayola Classroom to try your hand at designing costumes inspired by your own favorite movies.

After creating your masterpiece, go on a treasure hunt through the galleries, and afterward, stop by the Museum Store to collect your prize.
