The Founder’s Series: Portrait Painting Inspired by Rembrandt

The Founder’s Series is an educational partnership between the Allentown Art Museum and The Baum School of Art, inspired by our founder, Walter Emerson Baum.

Tuesdays (6-9pm) is portrait painting at The Baum School with instructor, Monika Stefany. The class will provide the basic guidelines to help you create a successful portrait painting. Learn how to capture your subject’s likeness, personality, and expression on canvas though hands-on instruction and painting demos.

Saturdays (10:30am-12pm) at the Allentown Art Museum, students will participate in an in-depth exploration of Rembrandt and his work, Portrait of a Young Woman (1632). Local museum professionals, historians, and artists will guide students through the exploration of Rembrandt’s life, practice, materials, and artistic accomplishments.
