October 27, 2019, through September 30, 2020
Payne Hurd Gallery

Presenting the first examples of video art to enter the Museum’s permanent collection, this series celebrates recent gifts donated by Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz. Good and Horvitz are the founders of Girls’ Club, a significant, publicly accessible private collection focused on contemporary art by women. From humorous performance-based video to poignant animations that explore the process of painting as narrative, these diverse works will enhance the museum’s ever-evolving presentation of engaging and thought-provoking works of contemporary art.

The first selection of videos, on view Oct. 27, 2019–TBD 2020, will feature artist performances: Rachel Perry’s Karaoke Wrong Number (2005-2009), Jillian Mayer’s viral video I Am Your Grandma, and Kate Gilmore’s With Open Arms.
