If you’ve attended the Museum’s fun fall fundraising event, Cocktails & Collecting, you know it’s a good time, featuring fantastic artists, fabulous fashions, tasteful cocktails, delicious bites, a club vibe, and cool company. It’s a night to dress up, go out, and be seen. You haven’t been? Then consider attending this year, on Saturday, October 24, from 6 until 9 p.m. DJ Brad is back, along with 22 crowd-favorite returning artists (list below) who will have their collectible art for sale. There will be several first-time C&C artists too, including painter Jonathan Bond, jewelry maker Jill Italiano, digital printmaker Sue Bannon, textile artist Tali Burry-Schnepp, and Pam Gontram, who creates unique mosaics. Learn more and get your tickets HERE.
Also new this year at C&C are two clothiers, offering original works of wearable art and ready-to-wear couture. Bethlehem-based designer Marla Duran describes her approach as “combining timeless techniques with contemporary design to create clothing that transcends trends.” Marla was an early contestant on the reality show Project Runway before designing for Reebok apparel in its heyday. She now sells her bold shirts, skirts, and jackets nationwide, and she will have a diverse selection to choose from at C&C.
Courtney McGee, who owns the West Chester boutique DRK•MTTR, will offer obsessively sourced vintage and contemporary pieces from houses like Armani, Valentino, and McQueen alongside striking unknown designs. She’ll also be showing her one-of-a-kind upcycled works that feature hand-stitching, painting, embroidering, and embellishing.
At C&C you can browse both artists’ fashions and take home something that feels right for your own carefully curated closet. To learn more about Marla and Courtney and the works they will be bringing to C&C, click on their images above to watch brief videos.
