For more than twenty years the Allentown Art Museum’s Discover Art program has encouraged academic excellence by emphasizing important skills such as creativity and critical thinking as well as making connections to math, science, history, and language arts. The program introduces students to the roles museums play in expressing and preserving cultural heritage and the importance of visual literacy and visual thinking. Each session includes a teaching segment followed by a hands-on art making project.
The Discover Art program includes tours, art making, curriculum guides, interactive activities, and online resources allowing students the ability to learn, explore, and make connections independently.
