The Allentown Art Museum is seeking enthusiastic and creative candidates for our 2026 Summer Camp Counselor positions. Our “Making with the Masters Summer Camp” Counselor plays a vital role in creating a dynamic, supportive, and art-filled experience for campers in grades 3–5 at the Allentown Art Museum. Working closely with Museum educators, the counselor assists with daily gallery explorations inspired by iconic artists and facilitates hands-on studio projects that encourage creativity, experimentation, and self-expression. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming environment, supporting classroom management, preparing materials, and fostering positive relationships with campers and families. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about the arts, enjoy working with children, and are committed to helping young creatives build confidence and joy through making.

Key Responsibilities
- Attend camp training in June.
- Assist with project preparations leading up to camp kick-off.
- Facilitate the “Making with the Masters Summer Camp.”
- Lead artmaking projects in the classroom.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the classroom, Art Ways, Community Gallery, etc
- Oversee early drop off OR late pick up for campers.
- Oversee lunch break in the Community Gallery.
- Ensure all campers, staff, and artwork stay safe.
- Escort campers to and from off-site locations.
- Take pictures and record videos of campers for Camp documentation and promotion.
- Keep records of event attendance.
- Gather surveys and visitor feedback.
- Facilitate program set-up and clean-up.
- Maintain gallery and classroom rules for the safety of all visitors and Museum collections.
- Coordinate with museum staff, including Visitor Services, Security, Marketing, etc. to ensure the success of the Camp.

Hours
- Camp Counselors work morning OR afternoon shifts Monday through Friday in July:
- Morning shift: 7 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Afternoon shift: noon–6 p.m.

Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish and English speaking) preferred but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be available Monday through Friday in the month of July
- Previous experience working in the arts or with young audiences is preferred, particularly in an educational or nonprofit setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Collaborative and optimistic spirit
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Able to pass a criminal background check
