FOR FAMILIES
Saturdays & Sundays in July • 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
ArtVentures: Color and Light
Guided art making for all ages. Create your own Tiffany-style window by using cellophane to create an artwork that can be hung on a window. Participants will have drawing templates available that can be traced onto the cellophane and cut out to shape, as well as permanent markers to draw directly onto the cellophane to create more detailed designs. Flashlights will be available for use to imitate sunlight beaming through the artwork, showing an example of what the artwork would look like on a window. LEARN MORE ABOUT ARTVENTURES HERE.
Third Friday in July & First & Third Friday in August • noon-3 p.m.
Field Trip Fridays: Floral Luminaries
Homeschoolers and their families are invited to create a mixed-media luminary inspired by the botanical lamps and windows in the Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass exhibition. With the guidance of a Museum educator, students will press dried flowers between wax paper and add color to their luminaries using oil pastels. Throughout the project, students will explore light, color, and nature. LEARN MORE ABOUT FIELD TRIP FRIDAYS HERE.
Saturdays & Sundays in August • 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
ArtVentures: Tissue-Paper Lanterns
Guided art making for all ages. Participants will design and create a lantern by cutting shapes out of tissue paper for their design before gluing them onto wax paper. When finished gluing, transparency paper will be placed on the back of the wax paper for support and will be stapled together in a tube shape to create the lantern. Place the tea light inside the tube, and the lantern is complete. LEARN MORE ABOUT ARTVENTURES HERE.
