From May 8 to May 22, 2025, the Art Museum’s Community Gallery came alive with color, imagination, and expression during the Allen Arts Academy Student Exhibition. Featuring artwork from dozens of talented students at William Allen High School, the exhibition presented the results of months of dedication, practice, and passion. Visitors were treated to a variety of arts, all created or presented by students.
The highlight of this artistic celebration came on Thursday, May 15, with the Student Showcase—a festive evening honoring student achievements across the arts. This special event brought together families, faculty, and friends to recognize the outstanding talent and hard work of young creatives.
“This showcase demonstrates the amazing creativity and hard work of our students in art, theatre, music, and dance,” says Allen art teacher Tracy Rabenold. “It is a wonderful evening showcasing their achievements.”
The showcase featured a dynamic lineup of performances that highlighted the diverse talents of the school’s student artists. Audiences were treated to a moving guitar solo, a flute duet, and a vibrant saxophone quartet rendition of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida.
“The Allen Arts Showcase is one of the few moments that I get to see what the other arts departments—choral, theater, dance, visual/sculptural arts—are doing with their students,” says instrumental director Eric Moser. “Everyone shows their love and passion for the arts, and it’s amazing to see art in multiple forms on this night.”
The school’s dance team energized the crowd with a powerful and well-choreographed dance number, while a vocal soloist captivated listeners with a heartfelt performance. The evening also included numbers from the school’s recent Spring Musical, Avenue Q: School Edition.
Throughout the night, Outstanding Student Awards were presented for different artistic disciplines, as well as a prestigious Principal’s Choice Award, accompanied by a special gift. These awards highlighted students who not only demonstrated exceptional skill, but also a deep commitment to their craft.
The event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of the Allen Arts staff:
