Join us for an inspiring and timely conversation with esteemed scholar, author, and former CEO of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Daniel H. Weiss and Max Weintraub, President and CEO of the Allentown Art Museum, on Thursday, December 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m., in the Museum’s auditorium.

Daniel H. Weiss

As the Allentown Art Museum considers its next chapter and its role in shaping the cultural future of the Lehigh Valley, this discussion arrives at a pivotal moment. Drawing from his acclaimed book Why the Museum Matters (Yale University Press, 2022), Weiss will reflect on the essential role museums play in strengthening communities, shaping culture, and connecting us to ideas that transcend time.

Under Weiss’s leadership, the Met navigated one of the most complex and transformative periods in its history, reaffirming the power of cultural institutions to adapt, inspire, and lead through change. Together, Weiss and Weintraub will explore both the enduring relevance of museums and the unique opportunities facing the Allentown Art Museum within evolving civic and regional landscapes.
