Payne Hurd Gallery
Paying tribute to the opening of the nearby PPL Center arena, this exhibition featured Theo Anderson’s photographs of the building’s interior during construction. With exclusive access to the site, Anderson had taken more than three thousand photographs of it and had selected more than two hundred of them for his series titled Concrete. Although his abstracted images are more about transformation than the place itself, they also revealed the progress of the project. In the adjacent Decorative Arts Corridor, vintage photographs of that location gave viewers a historical perspective.
A master printer, Theo Anderson has had numerous solo exhibitions and is represented in many public collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Lehigh University; the Kresge Museum of Art at Michigan State University; and here at the Allentown Art Museum. This exhibition was the Museum’s 2014 contribution to InVision Photography Month (November), organized by ArtsQuest.
