A new generation of women photojournalists are telling some of the most powerful and impactful stories of the last decade. From the savannas of Botswana to the war–torn streets of Libya and Afghanistan, from the beaches of the Jersey shore to the rainforests of New Guinea, these 11 women have traveled the world as explorers, capturing compelling stories of our planet and its people.

 

Stephanie Sinclair: Nujood Ali stunned the world 2008 by obtaining a divorce at age 10 in Yemen, Striking a blow against forced marriage, Too Young to Wed, 2011. From the exhibition Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers on Assignment, organized and traveled by the National Geographic Society.
