For more than twenty years the Allentown Art Museum’s Discover Art program has encouraged academic excellence by emphasizing important skills such as creativity and critical thinking as well as making connections to math, science, history, and language arts. The program introduces students to the roles museums play in expressing and preserving cultural heritage and the importance of visual literacy and visual thinking. Each session includes a teaching segment followed by a hands-on art making project.

While traditionally Discover Art is offered as an in-person program in our galleries, we are proud to offer Discover Art in a virtual format for the 2020-2021 school year. This standards-based and curriculum-aligned program will offer enrichment and additional resources for teachers and students at this challenging time.

The Discover Art program includes virtual tours, art-demonstration videos, curriculum guides, interactive activities, and online resources allowing students the ability to learn, explore, and make connections independently.
