Event Details

Carol Shiner Wilson, Ph.D. is a recognized authority on the life and art of the intriguing Milly Johnstone (1900-88), a pioneering fiber artist and wife of Bethlehem Steel director William Johnstone who vigorously resisted the corporate culture she married into. She was member of international artistic and intellectual circles and decades-long spiritual seeker who sought to make peace with the wolf related to a personal tragedy and her critique of corporate culture. Her needlepoints of the 1950s and 60s are imaginative pieces based on her visits to and meticulous research into steelmaking with titles like Alice in a Wonderland of Steel and Buddha in a Blast Furnace.
