After eight years of planning and fundraising, the Allentown Art Museum is proud to announce that two magnificent landscape memorial windows by Tiffany Studios are now part of the permanent collection! The acquisitions process involved presentations to the Museum’s Collections Committee and Board of Trustees by vice president of curatorial affairs, Elaine Mehalakes, who spoke about the historical significance of the windows and the innovative techniques used in their creation. She also discussed how this purchase would benefit both the Pottsville and Lehigh Valley communities. In early November 2024, the Collections Committee voted to recommend this purchase to the Board of Trustees, and the Board subsequently voted to approve the acquisition on November 12, formalizing the accessioning of the windows into the Museum’s permanent collection.

The Allentown Art Museum is honored to be able to conserve and preserve these important works for generations to come. The windows will go on view beginning April 26, 2025, in the Museum’s Kress Gallery, in conjunction with the opening of a special exhibition of Tiffany glass titled Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass.

Museum members will be invited to see the windows for the first time at an exclusive reception and preview of the exhibition on Friday, April 25, 2025. Become a member now to be a part of this exciting reveal.
