Trexler Hall

This exhibit displayed the first new glass pieces made by internationally renowned Quakertown-based artist Steve Tobin in twenty years. Exhibited in a darkened space, these illuminated sculptures cast colored light onto their surroundings, creating what Tobin calls “projection paintings” that transform our experience of the gallery space. They were installed with earlier glass works from the artist’s Cocoons series, metaphoric vessels that suggest transformation from body to spirit.

This exhibition was supported by the Audrey and Bernard Berman Family Fund, the Estelle Browne-Pallrand Charitable Trust, the Leon C. and June W. Holt Endowment, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
