Fowler Gallery
In conjunction with the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG), the Allentown Art Museum joined the nationwide celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the development of studio art glass in America. This exhibition was culled from the collection of glass collectors and Museum patrons Elaine and Leslie Lerner.
Now a serious collector of contemporary art glass, Mrs. Lerner began simply, by collecting perfume bottles. The Lerner Glass Collection has grown to more than eighty pieces, including work by such accomplished artists as Michael Taylor, David Schwartz, Robin Grebe, Eric Bernstein, and Lino Tagliapietra.
The Lerner Contemporary Glass Collection features more than twenty pieces of glasswork illuminated by the natural light that flows through the Fowler Gallery’s nine-foot-tall windows, overlooking Allentown’s Arts Park. The Museum was pleased and honored to showcase this beautiful collection and to be its future home. For more information on the art of studio glass, visit www.contempglass.org.
