Art Ways is a children’s gallery and lounge for young visitors looking to put their creative visions to work. Visitors will find the Crayola Classroom (home to ArtVentures), maker stations, and a communal chalk wall. And of course, you can meet Art Ways mascot, Arty the Turtle!
Try a project at one of our maker stations—many of which change each month based off of our themes:
November 2020: New Century, New Woman
Investigate fashion trends at the turn of the twentieth century by creating paper dolls and collaged portraits.
December 2020: Ceramics with a Twist
Create clay sculptures inspired by Toshiko Takaezu’s hollow vessels. Experiment with sound and hollow form by adding a noisemaker to your creation. Find art making instructions online at #AAMatHome.
January 2021: Printing Protest
Create collages using newspaper and magazine images to explore the revolution in printmaking.
