Dear friends of the Allentown Art Museum:
I’m excited to share with you that long-overdue renovations have begun in Kress Gallery. Originally known as Founders’ Gallery, this first-floor space has been home to Rembrandt’s Portrait of a Young Woman (1632) and the rest of our celebrated Samuel H. Kress Collection since September 1994. Before that, the gallery hosted dozens of special exhibitions, including Four Centuries of Still Life, the very first exhibition in our Linden Street location in December 1959.
When the Kress Gallery reopens this spring, it will showcase the Museum’s newest major acquisition: two extraordinary stained-glass windows created by Tiffany Studios more than a century ago. The conservation of the Tiffany windows and the long-overdue renovation of Kress Gallery’s lighting system are just two instances of the impact of your donations. Our free-for-all admission policy and educational programs are other examples of what’s possible with your generous support. We couldn’t continue to serve our community without you. Thank you!
Twice each year we kindly ask you to please consider making a gift to our Annual Fund campaign. Your Annual Fund donation ensures that we can continue to upgrade and improve our facilities, exhibitions, and educational offerings and meet our mission as a cultural resource accessible to all.
Please consider making a gift to our Annual Fund drive today to ensure that our programs and exhibitions can continue to be a free and vital resource for all in our community. You can donate now by clicking HERE, or by calling 610-432-4333 ext. 154 to make your donation with a credit card over the phone.
